I’m not a Geewunner by any means, so it’s not super important to me that movie versions of Transformers characters look exactly like their G1 counterparts.  That said, it IS important to me that movie versions of Transformers look distinct and recognizable as different characters, rather than giant indecipherable piles of gray scrap metal, and the fact that the new Transformer designs in Bumblebee actually have, like, colors and discernable heads and arms and legs and shit is really great.  The fact that I can actually recognize Shockwave and Soundwave as versions of Shockwave and Soundwave, rather than, again, an unreadable moving whirlwind of gray shrapnel, is just a bonus.
