Remember when JK Rowling created a race of slaves who loved being slaves and resented any effort to make them stop being slaves and the one who didn’t want to be a slave was presented as a strange outlier

can ppl chill out and enjoy things maybe

you enjoy shit that portrays slavery in an even slightly positive light? i’d be more concerned about what that says about your own priorities in life to be fucking honest

“can ppl chill out and just swallow the ideology maybe”

they arent human???????? or real in case you didnt know… harry potter isn’t real.

Harry Potter, as with all media, reflects and comments on the ideology held by its author and that of society at large (and passive acceptance or approval counts as a comment). Rowling presents is with a race of enslaved beings, who resent attempts to free them. When abolitionism is presented, it is ridiculed and derided as overzealous and childish, and the narrative presents “they like being enslaved” as a perspective worth considering. Whether you like it or not that is a statement with ideological weight that reflects on Rowling and her work. Things are not beyond criticism because you enjoy them.
