Dude, this is the random split au i had a few months ago on the slack chat. It’s about the Fentons getting contracted by Casper High to make a good ghost shield that wouldn’t just repel anything possessed by ghosts but actually separate the one doing the possessing and the one being possessed. You see, they already had a good ghost shield but too many students used the excuse that they were ‘lightly’ possessed by ghosts and therefore couldn’t enter the school grounds. (We’ve seen in Public Enemies that possessed humans can’t go through shields but Danny in human form can).

So the Fentons make a ghost shield based on the Ghost Catcher. If a student is possessed or just piggybacking a ghost on their person, the ghost would be left behind the barrier while the student safely passed. It works fabulously: no ghosts show up at achool, the school staff is satisfied, the students disappointed.

Except Danny splits into Fenton and Phantom, and the personality traits divided between them are either entirely random or depend on how Danny’s feeling that day. ANYTHING is possible. Danny learned to enter the school grounds through some bushes so that no one sees Phantom being ejected, and he’s got a Ghost Catcher as a permanent decoration in his room so he can fuse back, but each school day, from entering school grounds to coming back home, Fenton and Phantom are separate beings with divided personalities, Fenton doing school and Phantom doing ghost fighting in town.

We kinda thought about making this as a writing prompt thing: one person writes a day in this AU, splitting Danny however they want, then pass it to another person who continues with the next day and a different personality split… but it never really took off.

But imagine it. One day Fenton acts like a kid in school, another day he’s extremely polite, then mopey, spacey, lazy, bossy, then with such a short fuse that Sam and Tucker have to constantly keep him away from annoyances, and even then he somehow manages to judo-flip Dash before second period. Another day when Dash shoves him too hard he actually breaks down in tears and the reaction is so bad that a passing teacher sends them to the principal and their parents are called and the bullying issue is addressed because Danny still can’t stop crying. Then a few days later Danny completely rocks a talent show with his juggling prowess that he seems to lose the very next day. Meanwhile Phantom alternates between lazing around, actually saving the town, being photogenic or shy, more aggressive than normal, you name it.

And Sam , Tucker and Jazz are busy doing damage control. So much damage control.
