only way anyone can claim the abuse “wasn’t that bad” or abusers “weren’t wrong for abusing” is the scenario where life of the victim doesn’t matter at all. if you’re a human being and someone hurts and traumatizes you, it matters immensely. even more so if it happened when you were young and weak and unable to defend yourself, that kind of abuse is dangerous and cruel and can clearly identify abusers as monsters. do you think people who would hurt a defenseless child deserve any sort of forgiveness or second chances? and would you ever think that the defenseless child doesn’t matter? that it deserved to be hurt, just for being defenseless and being around monsters? you wouldn’t so you can’t say it for yourself either. you are a human, and you were a child, and children don’t deserve trauma for being born to abusers, so neither do you.
