I really hate having to do this, but I could really need some help.

For the past three years I’ve been dealing with endometriosis. For those who don’t know what it is, it’s a very painful condition where the endometrium that lines the uterus grows outside of it too, and it can lead, like it did in my case, to chronic pelvic pain.

At first it would hurt only during my period and a few days after. It hurt a lot, but it was for like 10 days a month. But in the past 6 months it’s gotten worse and I’m in costant pain, day and night. I’ve been sleeping 4 (non-consecutives) hours per night on avarage. And it’s so bad that I can’t even get/keep a job.

Yesterday I finally went to see a specialist and it turns out that since June, the cyst on the ovary that I have has grown from 4cm to 8.7cm (3.4 in), and now I need surgery to remove it. 

So now I have 750€ bill for the specialist + all the extra exams I need before the surgery and I have no idea how I’m going to pay for it. And they also prescribed me a pill that should prevent the cyst from keeping on growing, and hopefully help a little with the pain too. And that is 60€ a month that I don’t have. Because I have to pay for the only treatment available for a condition with no cure! Welcome to 2018.

There’s so many of us suffering from this truly debilitating condition. It really sucks and affects lives to an incredible degree. Hugs to you all, it’s comforting to know I’m not alone.

It’s actually an incredibly common condition, with comparatively little done to investigate or treat it. As it only affects vagina owners (and often to a debilitating degree) it isn’t given much attention. People are just told, well that just comes with having a vagina, man up! 🙄
