y’all are acting like barry was overdramatic for asking taako to murder him instead of just jumping off the starblaster but tbh? he was losing his memory as they spoke, quite literally. time was of the essence.

if he jumped,

in the time it took him to reach the ground, there was a chance that he would’ve completely forgotten lup and thus, he wouldn’t have that special memory that would hold him together and keep him composed and he would’ve been completely lost to the chaos of being a lich.

asking a trusted friend to murder you must have been frightening as hell but barry was brave and decisive, and he made the right decision. even though he’s a big lovable goof, barry is just such an important character to the story and i love him dearly.

he deserves more appreciation for his relentless efforts to help his friends, who have continuously denied his help all because they couldn’t remember him and therefore couldn’t trust him and that must have stung like hell. anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk, i love barry bluejeans.

  • Realizing you are in the process of losing your memories has got to be terrifying
  • He doesn’t know exactly what’s happening or how anything works: he’s not thinking logically, he’s panicking
  • It’s entirely possible that by this point Barry has already forgotten that he’s ON a ship to jump off of.
  • Seriously, Barry is standing there, confused and terrified, but one thing he still knows is that he can trust Taako to kill him. To save him.
