AU where Bella doesn’t TELL Edward that she knows, she just strolls into lunch one day and goes “hey guys, I’ve got a question for the table. Just for funsies, you know, just totally off the top of my head. Would you fuck a vampire, yes or no? I vote Yes.” And then stares across the cafeteria without blinking while Edward chokes.
Lee Pace being forcibly outed is one of the reasons I don’t get on board with “only real life gay people can play gays in the movies” bandwagon.
I get the idea behind it, wanting representation and I too am tired of straight men being called “brave” for taking on the role of a gay man.
But this attitude led to Lee being pushed out into an open and I’m firmly against people ever having to come out if they don’t feel comfortable and safe.
Push for better representation, push back against straight men acting like them just kissing a man should net then an Oscar, but don’t push people into positions where we act like we are entitled to know their sexual identity.
the thing isyour writing session might not be fun or easy or fruitful, but it isalways successful. every time you write, you are making progress. you’re thinking about your story, you’re thinking about your writing, and most importantly: you’re writing. just remember that, even if you don’t reach your goals, your writing session will be a success.
So I can’t brush my teeth. Like, it’s the worst kind of hell. I went to the dentist for a cleaning today and I told the hygienist this, and she was wonderfully helpful.
There are some incredibly soft toothbrushes available- namely, post-surgical brushes. Running them under hot water makes them even softer.
She told me that you don’t really need to use toothpaste- it’s mostly marketing. The foam gets to me, so that is really reassuring.
She gave me two particularly soft brushes and some xylitol gum. Trident is a market brand of xylitol gum, which helps with your teeth and can make your breath smell better.
The whole purpose of brushing is to disrupt plaque buildup. You don’t need to brush twice a day, every day with toothpaste if you brush correctly- little circles, focusing on near the gums (where most plaque builds up). So if you’re having a bad sensory day and can’t brush at all, it’s not the end of the world.
Hell, you don’t even need a toothbrush if even the post-surgical ones are too harsh. Going over your teeth with the same motions using a washcloth is enough.
She wants to find a fluoride rinse that has a taste I can stand (peppermint is the only mint I can stand) but she’s not particularly worried about it.
I go to Dr. Barr in Chicago. If you can get to the State St. Macy’s, his office is nearby. He’s very kind and patient and really understanding of my needs as an autistic person. The hygienist, I don’t know her name, announced everything she was going to do before she did it, and stopped frequently to see how I was doing.
This is really the only positive dentist I’ve ever had- past dentists have been too rough and not bothered to help find ways I can actually brush.
Basically this is a glowing recommendation for Dr. Barr’s office if you’re autistic, afraid of dentists, or have sensory needs. This is a recommendation even if you don’t have any of those things.
Im actually crying i feel like this post was reblogged for me oh my god oh my god oh my lord thank you
You can also dilute your mouthwash and use it to swish around if it burns. My dentist does this so consider it dentally approved
If you were feeling guilty about your brushing habits, either due to sensory issues, pain, allergies, executive dysfunction, or just plain fatigue, here’s what you need to know about what is and isn’t necessary if your dental care!
so! further expanding on the dragon situation, and Why pizza bard is Going to Die Soon.
We encountered a dragon. It saw us, we saw it. This sparked frantic discussion on what we were going to do about the dragon. But it was also that time of the night where I as a player tend to go, you know, I think we can take this. And our DM says, yeah, if you get some good rolls you might be able to do this. So I suggest we sleep and restore spell slots, and then see if we can go fight.
Then I remember characterization. I have known Draconic for this whole campaign, and I have backed up my knowledge of Draconic in pizza bard lore, and why the hell would pizza bard be afraid of dragons? The only dragons he’s encountered have been on his deliveries or otherwise friendly, save for some that he’s seen defeated by adventurers. So yeah, he’s generally aware that they can and will kill him if he’s stupid, but no more than literally everyone else.
Some dragons are known to just sort of steal good conversationalists and keep them forever, because they love entertaining. pizza bard has almost certainly escaped this before. So he walks in and starts chatting. Talking real good is how he’s gotten out of every scrape he’s gotten into, after all.
Unfortunately, this dragon seems to be a little bit possessed atm? so my hopes for making a new friend are somewhat thwarted right now. We have a cure if we can get it into the dragon, but this’ll be our last dose. if one of our party members gets fucked up, sucks for us.
This is also a black dragon, which tends to mean evil, but moral standing has never stopped pizza bard from making friends before. It didn’t attack immediately, so I’m a little hopeful that we can reach a peaceful solution? It even gave pizza bard a warning shot before seriously trying to hurt him. This example of dragon-typical courtesy makes pizza bard think it may still be a little sane, which means there’s a chance the party can help it shake off possession and not have to kill it.
Which feeds into an interesting ideology of his. He doesn’t want to kill longer-lived and immortal creatures. It’s a cultural thing, mostly, but to him killing a human means decades that will no longer be lived, but killing an immortal means millennia, or even eternity. Dragons live about 1500-1700 years. He’s going to be very resistant to killing something that lives that long.
It’s going to be really difficult for me to find the line between his self-preservation and [SPOILERS] the kinship he feels with another quasi-immortal being. Also, his confidence in his ability to keep himself alive vs. his overactive flight response. And a fun dash of ‘this dragon is being Forced to Do Things and I am often Forced to Do Things and I will help it.’ [END SPOILERS]. Expect a lot of meta posts over the next week or so.
